Аннотация

Currently, the deep imbalances in the spatial development of Russia have a serious impact not only on the containment of the socio-economic, technological, infrastructural growth of the country's regions, but also largely determine the state of national security of Russia. To a large extent, these problems are caused by demographic reasons, including the continued depopulation, uneven distribution of the population, an outdated settlement system, a large-scale outflow of the able-bodied population from the regions of Siberia and the Far East and increased centripetal internal migration flows, low migration mobility, low population density and the human settlement of most of the country, a declining level of human capital and a shortage of highly qualified specialists in the regional labour markets of the Russian Federation. The process of population outflow from the eastern regions of the country to the west continues is one of the most important problems of the socio-economic development of Russia. Despite the fact that much attention is paid everywhere to this issue, residents of the Far Eastern Federal District (hereinafter referred to as the FEFD) continue to move to areas of the country that are more promising for life. The course taken for the development of agglomerations today cannot remain the only right decision. In the future, there can be two or three large cities on a vast area, which in any case will lose their population, if not because of migration, then due to natural decline. In such a situation, it is important to evaluate and study intra-regional demographic processes and trends. The presented work contains the results of a study of the trends in the transformation of the settlement system of the FEFD municipal entities using geoinformation technologies.
